Is your summer wardrobe in need of the perfect pair of shorts? Come sew the Chanterelles by Sew Liberated at our Thursday evening workshop series this June!
The Chanterelle is a versatile pattern with three views to choose from - this workshop focuses on View C - a pair of shorts using the same easy waistband and pocket style as View B. These shorts (like the pants!) have an elastic waist and a relaxed, wearable fit that can be dressed up or kept totally casual.
Over three evenings you'll read and trace a paper pattern and assemble a garment from start to finish. This class is perfect for confident beginners and above - you know how to thread your machine and are comfortable sewing a given seam allowance.
For fabric, reach for a light- to medium-weight opaque woven with no stretch. Softer fabrics like sandwashed linen or viscose-linen slub will give a drapier result, while something more structured like a light twill or Essex cotton-linen blend will emphasize the leg shape. Chambray, Brussels washer linen, and ikat are all lovely choices too.
Fabric requirements vary depending on which view you choose and your size, so a full materials list - including fabric yardage, elastic, and notions - will be sent after registration. A printed pattern (all three views), tracing paper, fusible interfacing and the needed yardage of 2" elastic are included with your class fee.
Please bring your sewing machine (or email katherine@tinycheerhandmade.com to reserve one), your fabric, matching thread. A basic sewing kit with fabric scissors, pins, a seam ripper, and something to mark your fabric is also recommended. Shared tools (irons, boards, etc.) are available for common use during class.
